Norma Yancey Pendray, 97, of Cordele passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Crisp Regional Hospital. She was born in Williston, FL to the late Orian M. and Leuna Smith. She made her home there for many years before moving to Cordele ten years ago to be with her daughter and her husband, Rosie and Robert Clary. She was a devoted wife to two husbands. The first, John Yancey to whom she was married 47 years. She worked by his side at Yancey Lumber Company and at their logging operation. After he became ill she was his devoted caretaker until his death. She was blessed to find love again with John Pendray for 16 years. She was also preceded in death by a son, Duane Yancey, a grandson, Toogie Clary, a granddaughter, Eva Shiver and a great-great-grandson. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Alfa Rae Smith and brothers, Nolan Smith, Orian Smith and Wesley Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of the Williston Church of God. A devoted Christian woman, she read her Bible daily and loved her Lord Jesus Christ. She was a music lover and a talented pianist and played for local churches for many years. Norma loved the outdoors, and enjoyed gardening, spending time at the hunting camp and fishing. Her greatest passion though was her family and being a grandmother, spending many hours playing cards and games with them. She was blessed to have good health right up to the very end. Shortly before passing, she was excited to play for a Christmas program at Fellowship Home of Cordelia Manor and was recognized for all her talented abilities of 97 years. Norma is survived by two children, a daughter and her husband, Rosie and Robert Clary of Cordele and a son, Larry Yancey of Williston, FL; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
