Myrtle C. Grimsley, 85 of Cobb, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Fellowship Home of Cordelia Manor in Cordele. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Lake Blackshear Baptist Church. Burial will follow at 4:00 PM Nashville Memorial Gardens in Nashville, GA. Myrtle was born in Nashville and was the daughter of the late William Harrison Cook and Minnie Ola Smith Cook. She was a cosmetologist and in earlier years was an air craft gas tank welder for a small aircraft company. She was an active member of Lake Blackshear Baptist Church and in the past had sang in the choir and taught children's Sunday School. A devout Christian lady, she enjoyed reading her bible daily and serving others as she could. Myrtle enjoyed crafts of all kinds but especially loved making ceramics. A special hobby for her was putting down her thoughts in the form of songs. She was an avid outdoor person, enjoying fishing and traveling. She was an excellent cook and her greatest treasure was her family. She therefore put the two together and kept her family happy around a table filled with love and food. Myrtle is survived by her husband of 65 years, Andrew Grimsley, Jr. of Cobb; three children, Deborah Lee Hamilton and her husband, Freddie of Milledgeville, Sharon Ann Tucker and her husband, Terry, and Michael Andrew Grimsley and his friend, Steve Brown, all of Leesburg; grandchildren, Joy Wright and her husband, Jay of Milledgeville, Andrew Hampton of Charleston, SC, Dreau Murphy and her husband, Donald of Fernandina Beach, FL and Zachery Tucker of Jacksonville, FL; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Myrtice Coldwell of Gray and Inez Gaskins of Cordele; She was preceded in death by siblings, Curtis Cook, Carley Cook, Daniel Webster Cook and Helen Burdette.
