She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, Cicero "Bill" Canady; siblings, Frances Denham Cooley, Betty Pope, Floyd Cross and Clarence N. Cross. In her early years, she was very active in the political arena and campaigned for several presidents. Louise was a Financial Aid Director and also a professor at High Point College in North Carolina. While in North Carolina she was instrumental in helping to start a Hospice program. In later years she moved to Perry where she became very active in her community working as a volunteer with the Hospital Auxiliary in Perry and was active in the Red Hats Society. As a devout Christian, she loved her Lord, attending church and singing in the choir. Her greatest passion was her family and her extended family and spending time with them. Louise is survived by her daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Dick Hughes, Garrett "Gary" Nowicki, all of Kernersville and David Keith Nowicki of France; two grandchildren, Johanna Crase and her husband, Michael, and Dawn Tyndall and her husband Allen; two great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, James Cross, John L. Cross and Fred Cross; five sisters, Pat Bergman House, Ruth C. Warner, Reba Quinones, Evelyn Reeves and Marie C. Shafe; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by two special long-time friends, Ellen Kelley and Carolyn Shultz, both of Perry. The family would like to thank them both for the love and care they gave to her during the good times and in her last days of her life, along with three hospice angels, Amy Rogers, Sheila Lester and Janet Smith. Memorials to High Hill Baptist Church, 2099 High Hill Road, Ashburn, GA 31714 or to Kindred Hospice, 319 Margie Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088 would be appreciated by the family.
