Funeral services for Jack Calhoun of Cordele will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery in Crisp County. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 unil 8:00 p.m. at Rainey Family Funeral Service. Mr. Calhoun, 74, passed away Sunday at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta after a lengthy illness. He was born in Crisp County and was the son of the late Lonnie N. and Dicy Whittington Calhoun. Mr. Calhoun had served in the Georgia National Guard and was an active member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church and the Clements Communtiy Club. He was a journeyman electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Perry Calhoun of Cordele; four children and their spouses, Jackie and Larry Anderson, Juanita Wells, and Jeffery and Marilyn Calhoun, all of Cordele, and Jennifer and Richard Majors of Stockbridge; twelve grandchildren, Christopher Anderson and his wife, Christine, Josh Calhoun, Jessica Calhoun, Mathew Anderson, Sarah Calhoun, Jackson Cyle Wells, Mack Majors, Caleb Calhoun, Casie Wells, Rachel Calhoun, Rebekah Calhoun and Kanon Majors; and two great-grandchildren, Morgan Anderson and Avery Anderson. He was preceded in death by siblings, W.H. Calhoun, Willie Mae Easom, Minnie Ruth Chapman, Marian Nipper and Pallie Wade. The family may be contacted at the residence.
