A memorial service for Rennie G. Easom, Jr. of Americus, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele. The family will receive friends Saturday at Rainey Family Funeral Service in Cordele, prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. until time to depart for the cemetery. Mr. Easom, 87, was a former long-time resident of Cordele before moving to Americus in 2007. He passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany from injuries he received in an auto accident. Born in Crisp County he was the son of the late Rennie G., Sr. and Debbie Lillian Ray Easom. Mr. Easom was a Logistics Specialist (RET) with Civil Service and a member of Americus First Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and had served in England and France. He received five Battle Stars, the EAME Theatre Ribbon, the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Ribbon. Mr. Easom was a member of Cordelia Lodge #296 F&AM and had recently received his 60-Year Apron. He is survived by his four sons and their wives, Leon and Dawn Easom of Tallahassee, FL, James Easom of Albany, Rennie G., III and Leisa Easom of Americus and Charles Easom of Albany; four grandchildren, William Easom and his wife, Victoria, Derrick Easom, Mitchell Easom and Wesley Easom and his wife, Susan; and a great-grandson, Anderson Easom. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Easom; and siblings, Lamar Easom and Dorothy Easom.
