Obituaries

Funeral services for Geneva Prather of Cordele will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009 in the  chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service.  The committal service will follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Wilcox County.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.   Mrs. Prather, 58, went home to be with her Lord Friday.  She was born in Turner County and was the daughter of Faye Beard Rouse and the late R.T. Rouse.  An employee of Wells Hardware, she was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, and attended Union Baptist Church in Pitts.  She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Frank Prather of Cordele; two children and their spouses, Nikki and Blake Manning of Cordele and Wesley and Summer Prather of Ashburn; her mother, Faye Rouse and her friend, Winfred Dixon of Tallahassee, FL; her four beloved grandchildren,Bailey Manning, Libby Manning, Reese Prather and Madison Prather; a brother and his wife, Gary and Debbie Rouse of Cordele;  six sisters and their husbands, Jan Payne of San Antonio, TX, Annette and Roy Turner, and Carolyn Weeks, all of Cordele, Beverly and Ronald Worthy of Vienna, Teresa and Micky Cain of Jefferson, and Karen and Buddy Pruitt, of Lake City, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.  The family requests that if anyone wishes to honor Geneva to please do so by sending memorials to Crisp Regional Hospital, Oncology Department, P.O.
