Obituaries

Funeral services for Wyman Lee Mixon, Sr. of Cordele will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2009 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service.  Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery.  The family will greet friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  Mr. Mixon died Friday, October 2 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Augusta. He was retired from Tyson Foods as a Waste Water Engineer Tech and was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church.  He was a veteran of the United States Marines and a member of the Marine Corp Association.  He was also an active member of the Cordelia Lodge #296 F&AM and Scottish Rite Hasan Temple.  Mr. Mixon is survived by his wife, Aleta Mixon of Cordele; two sons, Wyman L. Mixon, Jr. and his wife, Rhonda, and David S. Mixon, all of Cordele; his mother, Gladys Mixon of Cordele; six grandchildren, Aubrey Bellany, Cameron Cruickshank, Brandi L. Mixon, William S. Mixon, Matthew L. Mixon and Joshua J. Mixon; two great-grandchildren, Carlee E. Bellamy and Tristan J. Bellamy; and a brother and his wife, Terry and Judy Mixon of Winter Springs, FL.  He was preceded in death by his father, Buford Lee Mixon.
