Obituary:

Funeral services for Linda Addy Cox of Seville will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Cordele First United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery.  The family will greet friends  at the church Wednesday from 10:00 until 12:00 p.m. Mrs. Cox, 86,  passed away Monday at Crisp Regional Hospital.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hadley Cox, Jr.  The daughter of the late George Stafford and Ophie Markette Addy, she was reared in Webster County and attended school in Preston.  She received her B.S. Degree in Home Economics from Georgia State College for Women.  She relocated to Crisp County as the Assistant Home Demonstration Agent where she worked mainly with the 4-H Clubs.   An active member of Cordele First United Methodist Church for 53 years, she was also a longtime member of the United Methodist Womens Guild where she worked tirelessly and served in many capacities.  She taught Third Grade Sunday School for 30 years and had been a Volunteer for the Hospital Auxiliary for over 5 years.  Mrs. Cox also volunteered with the American Cancer Society  She is survived by her children, James H. Cox, III of Atlanta,  Emily Cox Jones of Fitzgerald and  Melissa Cox Rountree of Pitts; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her caregivers, Myrtice Jones and Sheila Passmore.  She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Jones, and brothers, Stewart Addy, Zimri Addy and Raymond Addy.
