Obituary:

Funeral services for Harold Wade Cape of Cordele will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Penia Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the Penia church cemetery.  The family will greet friends at Rainey Family Funeral Service, Wednesday from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m.  Mr. Cape, 75, died at his residence Monday, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Centerville, Ga. and was the son of the late Arthur Lee and Sue Wade Cape.  Mr. Cape, well known and loved by those in the surrounding area, always had a smile and a good word to everyone he met.  He was a machinist (RET) at Harris Group and was a long-time member of Penia Baptist Church and served on the Board of Deacons.  He was active in the Hope Sunday School Class and the Brotherhood, where he had served as a past president.  He was also a member of the Crisp County Sportsman’s Club and the Tremont Community Club.  Mr. Cape is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Betty Cape of Cordele; six children and their spouses, Jackie and Angela Cape of Albany; Ronnie and Sandra Cape, Sheila Cape Passmore, all of Vienna; Wade and Sheila Cape,  Sandra Cape Little and her fiancé, Royce Donahue, all of Cordele; Len and Debbie Cape of Americus. Also, surviviving him are 18 grandchildren and their spouses, Paige Cape Royal and her fiancé, Russell Taunton, Michelle and Chase Sims, Chad and Lindsay Passmore, Shanna and Jason Duff, Erin Cape, Leigh Cape and her fiancé, Drew Lasseter, Emily Cape, Stephanie Cape, Ashley Athon, Crystal and Stephen Hilliard, Kassie and Johnny Raybon, Adam Cox Cape, Colby Cape, Kristina Cape, Michael and Mandy Little, Jake Little and his fiancee, Lacey Nipper, and Hunter Little; and 16 great-grandchildren, Blythe Duff, Drayton Royal, Harper Lasseter, Chance Richter, Julia Owen, Hannah Sims, Tyler Hilliard, Tanner Hilliard and Madison Hilliard, Tayten Raybon, Ava Raybon, LeiLei Cape, Trevor Cape, Analeigh Little, Holly-Reese Little and Kloe’ Little; a brother and his wife, Robert D. and Nita Cape of Cordele; two sisters, Ruby C. Hayslip of Cordele and Betty Cape Duffy of Naples, FL.  He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Brandan Cape and a sister, Sandra Cape.
