Obituaries

Funeral services for Jean Massey Connell of Cordele will be held  Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at Northern Heights Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Wilcox County.  The family will receive friends  Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Rainey Family Funeral Service.  Mrs. Connell passed away Thursday at her residence.  She was born in Dooly County and was the daughter of Erma Louise Nutt Massey and the late William Howard "Dub" Massey. She was employed at Crisp Regional Hospital and was an active member of Northern Heights Baptist Church.  Mrs. Connell is survived by her husband, Harry Connell of Cordele; a daughter and her husband, Paige and Kevin Smith of Albany;  her mother, Erma Massey of Pitts;  a granddaughter and her husband, Amy and Daniel Owens of Kathleen;  a great-granddaughter, Ava Skye Owens of Kathleen; and a brother, Roger Massey of Leesburg.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials in Jean's honor be made to the Lights Of Love, Phoebe Putney Cancer Center, P.O. Box 1828, Albany, GA 31702.
